Wei Wei
She/ Her
Tier I therapist
Hi there, I'm Wei Wei — a mental health counselor, and someone who's willing to walk alongside you through the low points in life.
Perhaps you're currently feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in a relationship, or simply exhausted from holding everything together. What if we slowed down for a moment—just enough to give space to those long-suppressed feelings, and to gently ask: What brought you here? And how might we begin to find a way forward?
In our work together, I bring clinical knowledge, steady presence, and genuine companionship to co-create a space where you can feel safe enough to just be. I'm here not to rush you into solutions, but to help make sense of the parts you don’t know how to say—or feel like no one’s ever really heard.
My style is warm and sincere. I value the trust and relationship we build, and I work relationally—drawing from person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and other approaches to tailor support that fits you. I offer sessions in both English and Mandarin, available online or in person, with flexible scheduling to accommodate your pace and lifestyle.
If you’re willing, we can begin from this moment. I believe, in time, you’ll find your own answers—ones that truly belong to you.
To me, therapy isn’t about saying the right thing—it’s about standing beside you with warmth and patience, as we make space for what’s been held inside and begin to gently find a way forward.
My Story
I was born in Qingdao, China, and came to the U.S. at 18 to study Psychology and Communication at UC Davis. During college, I came to see psychology not just as a subject, but as a language—it helped me better understand myself and learn how to truly connect with and support others.
Later, I interned at a mental health center, where I worked closely with patients in an inpatient unit. I observed therapy sessions, joined clinical rounds, and participated in group activities. It was my first time sensing the depth and complexity of clinical work, and the healing power of steady, genuine presence.
Near the end of my internship, a young woman I’d been supporting gave me a drawing that said, “Thank you for being here.” At that moment, I realized that therapy isn’t about saying the right thing, but about standing beside someone—to understand, to wait, and to hold what cannot change immediately.
This experience led me to pursue my master’s in Mental Health Wellness and Counseling at NYU, where I received formal training and began shaping my own therapeutic style.
Therapeutic Approaches
My therapeutic work is grounded in a person-centered approach. I believe that effective counseling begins with a warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental space—one in which clients can feel truly seen and heard, and safe enough to explore difficult emotions and life experiences.
At the same time, I flexibly integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches based on each client’s unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), brief psychodynamic therapy, and relational therapy. Depending on the situation, I may use CBT to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts and behaviors, draw from psychodynamic perspectives to explore how early relational experiences impact present-day emotions and interpersonal patterns, or utilize the therapeutic relationship itself as a healing space through relational work.
Specialties
I specialize in supporting clients with emotional challenges such as depression and anxiety, exploring issues related to self-worth and identity, and navigating interpersonal difficulties and boundary-setting. As a therapist who grew up within a cross-cultural context, I have a deep understanding of the psychological stress that cultural differences can bring, and I am especially attuned to the emotional experiences and identity struggles that arise in multicultural environments.
I hope to walk alongside you in a safe and genuine therapeutic relationship—together facing, understanding, and gradually reclaiming your inner strength and sense of direction.

More About Me
Outside of my role as a therapist, I cherish the moments in life that allow me to slow down and recharge. Traveling has become one of my favorite forms of self-care, and I find that spending time in nature helps me reconnect with myself. So far, I’ve visited 13 national parks across the U.S., and on my most recent break, I completed a road trip along the “Grand Circle” in the American West. Among vast landscapes and starry skies, I often rediscover a sense of inner peace and connection.
At home, I live with a very lovable Yorkshire Terrier named “Mayshar” (which roughly means “It’s okay” in Chinese). His name often brings a smile to my friends’ faces—and to me, it’s a gentle daily reminder that whatever we’re going through, it will pass. His presence brings warmth, comfort, and softness into my life, and I hope he gets to live in this world with as much joy and freedom as possible.
