Frequently Asked Questions
We are in-network with a limited number of insurance plans and otherwise operate as an out-of-network (OON) practice.
In-network coverage includes:
Wellfleet Student Plans - MSM, and more.
United Healthcare Student Plans - The New School, Rutgers, Student Medicover, and more
Aetna - SVA, NYU, Columbia University, Commercial PPO, Managed Choice, EPO, Commercial HMO
Health First - Please note NOT all therapists are credentialed with HF
Because insurance participation varies by clinician, we recommend reaching out to us directly to confirm whether a specific therapist is in-network with your plan.
Our session fees vary depending on the clinician’s level of training, specialization, and experience.
Tier IV (Specialist) $275-$375 per session
Tier III (Advanced Practitioner) $200-300 per session
Tier II (Intermediate Practitioner) $150-$250 per session
Tier I (Graduate Intern) - $50 -$60 per session
We are committed to increasing access to culturally responsive and specialized mental health care. Clients who are able to pay the full fee help support lower-fee therapy options for individuals and communities who may otherwise face barriers to accessing care. Reduced-fee appointments may be available based on financial need and clinician availability.
Our practice remains committed to supporting BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and historically underserved communities through accessible therapy services whenever possible.
Most of our clinicians are currently out-of-network with insurance plans, which means we do not bill insurance directly.
However, many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement for therapy through their out-of-network mental health benefits. Upon request, we can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Choosing an out-of-network provider may also offer greater flexibility, privacy, and continuity of care. Unlike in-network therapy, insurance companies often require additional clinical information, such as treatment plans or session notes.
Helpful questions to ask your insurance provider include:
Does my plan include out-of-network coverage for mental health services?
What is my annual deductible for out-of-network mental health benefits?
Have I met any portion of my deductible?
What percentage of each session will be reimbursed?
Is there a limit to the number of therapy sessions covered per year?
Is there a maximum out-of-pocket expense limit?
Does my plan require preauthorization or a referral from a primary care physician?
Are telehealth therapy sessions covered?
A deductible is the amount you are required to pay out of pocket for healthcare services before your insurance begins to contribute to the cost of your care.
Deductible amounts vary widely depending on your insurance plan and can range from $0 to several thousand dollars per year, whether your plan is in-network or out-of-network.
Once your deductible has been met, your insurance may begin to cover a portion of your therapy sessions—often anywhere from 50% to 100%, depending on your specific plan and benefits.
We recommend checking your insurance policy or contacting your insurance provider to understand your exact deductible amount and how much has already been met for the year.
Yes, we offer a sliding scale to those who cannot afford the full fee. Proof of income is required in order to qualify. Please get in touch to discuss your options.
If you would need to cancel/reschedule an appointment, we ask that you do so with your provider with at least 48-hour notice. Anyone canceling an appointment with less than a 48-hour notice will be charged the full session fee. Insurance does not cover no-shows and late cancellations, so is the client’s responsibility to pay.
